  Grain feed is the absolute staple for parrots. However, fresh food as a supplement is indispensible (fruit, vegetables, herbs). Parrots require highly varied food in order to prevent vitamin deficiencies and liver damage. That's why this food mix from Dacapo (Parrot Food 2000) is very diverse. Additionally, it has a well-balanced amount of sunflower seeds; lots of other food-mixes are markedly rich in fatty seeds or grains and thus foster obesity and its corresponding health consequences. Tip: Grain feed should always be stored in an airy, dry enviroment. Paper or fabric bags are especially well-suited for storing grain feed. Even when storing smaller amounts, avoid plastic bags since the food can start to go bad faster due to the condensation of the moisture in the grains.
